This remote group of farm buildings, that were beginning to noticeably deteriorate, I found visually stimulating and spent some time drawing them from different view points. I knew that I would paint this group of buildings back in the studio and my memory of the bleached grasses in the foreground and the bright light reflecting off the clay tiled roof that contrasted with the dark interior of the barns led me paint the high toned picture as I did.
