After returning from Drome I wanted to capture the the brightness of that landscape contrasting with the dark tones of the low growing trees. I painted it using extensive washes, some of which were directly wet in wet and some were softened along some of their edges and left to dry. The trees, people, posts and gate were all put in at the end of the painting process with hard edges to contrast with the rest of the softer washes.
