This view of Le Tech, in the Valley of the River Tech, was taken from a low position by the river. I liked the way that the bell tower, with its exposed metal work bell cage, soaring upwards from this low view point was somehow accentuated by the large retaining walls near the river. So I painted the scene, back in the studio, with the somewhat abstract tonal treatment of the retaining walls in the foreground creating a degree of tension with the more clearly defined bell tower and bell cage.
