First, a big thank you to those of you who having visited my web site have taken the trouble to e-mail me with your kind comments. Your kindness is very much appreciated.
Unfortunately my intentions of collecting material for watercolours of the Lincolnshire Wolds has been somewhat upset by two spells in hospital. Nevertheless, despite awaiting further hospitalisation, I have made a start, having been inspired by the colours of the countryside during and after the harvest period. My first Lincolnshire watercolours are now to be found within the Gallery section. As you will see these are of areas where big skies rule!
Moreover, I am still resorting to sketchbooks for subject matter and you will see from the Gallery that I continue to paint new watercolours of subjects other than Lincolnshire
Have you picked up David Hockney’s recent comments, which resonate with me, on conceptual art and the importance of drawing? How I agree with him on the importance of drawing. Like him and his assurance that his works are painted by him, so I can assure you that all the watercolours on this web site are solely by my hand! However, he needs a vast space to exhibit his fascinating works (in my opinion the Hull Gallery which showed his Bigger Trees Near Warter was too small to fully appreciate the work) and mine can hang on walls even in the smallest dwelling.
Those of you who are watercolourists may be interested in the New Encyclopaedia of Watercolor Techniques that is now available in good book shops and on line sources. Amazon is selling it with a reasonable discount. Within its covers you will find two of my watercolours reproduced.
